The second problem with the design above was the duplication of code for some of the infrastructure components. Don’t get me wrong, not all duplication is bad (as Rob Pike said: “A little copying is better than a little dependency”). But in this case it’s a significant piece of logic - a custom implementation of a TCP protocol in one case, and filtering of high-throughput data in the second. 2025年末的一天，我在旧书网站上浏览，注意到一本英文小说《女人不败》（The Impregnable Women），作者是艾瑞克·林克莱特（Eric Linklater，1899-1974）。我记得这个书名，因为平时总翻看《钱锺书手稿集·外文笔记》索引那一卷，知道钱先生喜欢读林克莱特写的书，其中就有这本《女人不败》。网站上展示了该书的版权页和书名页，系伦敦的乔纳森·凯普（Jonathan Cape）出版社1938年8月第三次印刷本（该书1938年6月出版，到8月就第三次印刷，可见颇受欢迎）。书名页空白处偏左，原有竖写的书主题识，可惜被人刮去了，只留下隐约的笔画。我心下一动：莫非……遂订下此书。
